The running of the newly promoted Group 1 Ascot Vale Stakes at Flemington on Derby day, provided success for the fillies. While Gold Edition sprinted clear, the Waikato Stud owned, O'Reilly filly, Splashing Out raced home to secure a valuable Group 1 addition to her already fantastic pedigree. This addition benefits the MWB purchased, Cape Cross mare, Cape Merlot and her new owners. Splashing Out and Cape Merlot share the same third dam in Bourbon Lass, from the family of Zamazaan Lass, Omnicorp, Crimson, Centie Lassie and Splasing Out's dam, Iguazu.
Cape Merlot is currently in foal to O'Reilly.
